Bell Ringer: "Ward No. 6"

Anton Chekhov goes into great detail describing the characters in Ward No. 6. Using at least three GOOD descriptions, analyze the characters of Nikita, Ivan Gromov, and Dr. Yefemitch. You may use either adjectives or phrases to explain what defines each of these characters.

As you work, I will check your annotations for the first 6 sections of "The Twelve."

Active Reading

Finish reading and annotating "The Twelve"
As you read, look for Blok's "so what." Make specific notes on this at the end of the poem. Can you state the "so what" in one sentence? (I will look for this as part of your annotating grade!)

Remember: By "so what," I mean his POINT, his SPECIFIC PURPOSE. What is he trying to say here?

Keep this in mind as you read.....

Question: How does the Bolshevik Revolution help us understand Blok's poem "The Twelve?"
After reading the poem, we will go to the computer lab to develop a short (6 slide) PowerPoint presentation addressing this question.
